Ever seen those letters on a tombstone and wondered what they ment? I have a few times and just now, due to being bored, checked what it stands for.

Apparantly it's an abbreviation for:

"Non Fui, Fui, Non Sum, Non Curo."

It's latin and means "I did not exist, I existed, I do not exist, I don't care.".

Personally I think it's an awesome thing to have on your tombstone and something to consider when that time is due. :P

Had my first German lesson this morning. Foreign languages, German in my case, is easily the subject that requires the most work of me. Practise makes perfect I guess, but I truly hate it when you're only able to speak in basic sentences and those you thought out beforehand. The biggest reason I chose to continue with it is that I know how important it is. You need languages if you're aiming for those kind of jobs I am aiming for. When multiple people search for a job it may very well be the deciding factor.

The largest difference, for me, between a foreign language and for example math is that with math you learn one thing and  you see a definite and clear improvement and increase of knowledge. With foreign languages it's like you learn and study some grammar or words but that feeling of a definite increase in knowledge is missing, at least for me. That feeling comes later though, when you all of a sudden notice that your skills do have improved, happens once or twice a year in my case, but the lack of that immediate feeling of accomplishment (and the feeling of that you suck at this you sometimes get) makes these lessons, well, not dreaded but not something you really look forward to.

Something I had looked forward to though, is chemistry. This first lesson, however, was quite boring in my mind. Our teacher went through the basics and with that I mean the absolute and extreme basics. Stuff you heard about the first time in 6th grade. Sure, it may have been exiting then but I think I know it by now after having rehearsed it for 4 years. I'd hoped we'd learn something new and cool to catch interest and get the course rolling tbh. Learned two new things in 2.5 hours, what it's called when an element skips liquid form and goes directly for solid or gas form and the chemical symbol for tin (Sn). :/

Guess it's good that they bring the entire class to the same level but I think it was a bit too much time dedicated to the extreme basics. I hope we get to more advanced stuff soon, though by the look of our schedule - I doubt it...

So, school starts in a few hours, holidays are over and I'm sitting here, trying to recall what I've done this summer.

First three weeks were really great. Spent the first 2 in Germany with my family in a cabin which was almost a small house. The beach was 100m away but as it isn't really my thing, I had a great time going into the small town nearby and doing stuff there while practising my german. :)

We explored the north of Germany quite a bit, went to Wismar, Greifswald, Soltau and Travemünde among others. Great start on the holiday.

Was in Gothenburg the week after, visiting my cousins and attending Metaltown. Saw some great bands there like In Flames, Soilwork and Sabaton.

Played a lot of Age of Conan after I got back home but decided in mid-july that the game was not enough fun for me so I quit it.

Went to Övik as well and watched Alice Cooper with some friends, guess it was cool though I'm not really a fan of his.

Last month, well, played a few games, Oblivion and Crysis spring to mind as does Heroes III and DotA (with guildmembers). That and trying to ruin F5 ofc while browsing Warhammer Alliance and Futilez guild page. :P

Guess that's mostly it. All in all been an ok summer. A shame AoC sucked I guess but not much you can do about it and WAR's coming in 13 days anyway (at least OB:P).

Why do some people (mom in particular) believe that you need to "reset" your sleeping habits to normal a week or two before school actually starts. After telling her, for about 2 weeks, that it's not actually needed at all, she decided that 3 days is the absolute minimum amount of time you need and therefore woke me up at 7:00 this morning. I can tell you one thing - I was not happy when she did that. Especially since I haven't slept much the last three days due to a LAN-party that I organized.

I finally went to Orions this monday btw, ofc they didn't have any Deamonettes in the store at the time. >.<

Ordered some though and they'll probably arrive on monday so it's not that bad.

ps. Sorry about the lack of posts this past week. I'd totally forgot about it. :P

Change.

It's everywhere and everyone wants something to change, whether it's huge changes like moving to a new place or finding someone to love, or smaller changes like getting a new haircut or grab a hold of that new awesome game that's coming out 18th of September.  ;)

Most of the time though, change is something a majority of people are negative about. People generally don't like change, they like it the way they've always done it. It makes them feel secure. Trying new things are scary for some and exciting for others, most of the time a bit of both, depending on what it is and who it is that's trying.

Some people are even more reluctant to change than others, they live in the past so to speak. While remembering and even embracing the past is a good thing, taking it too far can disconnect the individual from the present making him/her seem a bit distant and old to the people living in it. (This seem to happen naturally with age, exceptions exists of course.)

Others embrace the thought of change, making so many plans for what they shall do when they get more money, what they will do when they get old etc. etc. that they forget to live their life in the present. You should definitely have both short and long term plans but, same as staying in the past, taking it too far disconnects you from the present and make you look like you have your head up in the skies.

There's a line which summarizes this pretty well, most often attributed to a survivor of the german deathcamps:

Remember the past, plan for the future, but live in the present!

There's always people who want to change you and your ways of life (most notably your parents;)), and if you're like me and need a hard boot in the ass, most often my own boot but not always, to get something changed then it can be a good thing. Don't let them take it too far though, opinions differ and make sure the change is for the better.

In the end, always remember that change as a whole drives the world forward. Without change, nothing would exist.

PS: Can't write a post with only one nerdy reference in it, so therefore I have to declare this post as an offering to Tzeentch - god of Change. ;)

I've added categories to organize stuff a bit better. Did this for several reasons:

1. I want to summarize my D&D adventures, this could be quite lengthy posts which none but I and the people I play with might read.

2. I want to get stuff more organized (duh), with gaming related stuff in WAR/Gaming, general ramblings about life in General a.k.a "Allmänt", etc...

3. I still haven't picked up those Deamonettes yet, but thought I'd post pictures and stuff like that during the dreaded assembling/painting process and ofc battle reports when it'll come to that (will create a Warhammer section when time is due). Those could also be quite lengthy with even less interest. :P

After being awake for  about 53 hours (you can't waste time sleeping when you're at home alone, can you?), a good night's sleep was definitely needed to say the least. :P

Hoping Crysis drops down in my mail today, I'm so bored with AoC atm and really need a fresh experience.  Played through the demo like 4 times and it seems to be a cool game. Have heard that the multiplayer ain't that good, but I'm not such a huge fan of fps-games anyway. I like the singleplayer but, truth be told, I suck at them and always have. At least compared to my übah skills in rpgs and mmo's. ;)

Haven't really done anything meaningful today tbh. I've pretty much just sat in front of the computer the entire day, talking with guildmates over vent or listening to music. Thought about making another D&D adventure, but realized that I can't until we've played through the one I made yesterday. The endings are too diverse. I guess it's the prize of non-linear adventures.

Listening to one of my favorite tunes atm: The Quiet Place by In Flames. Really great song imo, one of their best.

Just got a call from my parents who told me that they're on their way home. Guess I've to clean up a bit. It is a bit messy, even by my standards. ;)
